Who We Are:
ZLA is a new student-led educational resource center centered around building redoubtable leaders through continuing education and beyond. We firmly believe that every student can be successful no matter the circumstance nevertheless, the success of the student hinges on the process of preparation. We understand that each of our students have their own story and a unique background that follows. Which is why we've made it our priority to ensure that all of our student-leaders are future-ready through the constant support and consulting we provide campus-wide.
What We Do:
We support K-12 students by offering tutoring, credit recovery, vocational expedition, and Life Enrichment Courses. In the fall of 2020, we will be implementing adult education for those 21 and above. This program will provide our students with formal preparation in vocational development. We also assist with college searches, registration, scholarships, FAFSA, scheduling/attending college tours, occupational connections, and internship opportunities.
How We Do it:
We are founded on three key practices, 1. Identify the Valley, 2. Learning from those valley experiences, 3. Mastership through Triumph. A competency-based approach allows us to best meet students where they are and provide them meaningful learning experiences to assist them in fostering useful skills, knowledge, and dispositions. Low student to teacher ratios secures ample one-on-one support and guidance. Our framework is centered around metacognition and applied knowledge. It is through these principles that we successfully graduate the future leaders of our society.
Our goal is to provide both our students and the community with as many opportunities as possible. While in route to their success, through the learning and participation of our sessions, our students will be better prepared for the success that awaits them.
"Our future hinges on the preparation of our learners. Therefore; it is incumbent upon us to give them our absolute best now. So that we can experience the best from them later. I believe that greatest leaders in the nation are right here in our classrooms."
-Mr. James Berry, Academy President.
